5 Prix Olympia philatelic prize
Prix Olympia

Prix Olympia philatelic prize
Idea of organizing an international competition for the three finest stamps issued on the occasion of the Olympic Games was launched by the IOC Honorary President Juan Antonio Samaranch in 1985. The IOC Honorary President assisted by a jury of nine members, shortlists twelve stamps which are then submitted to an international grand jury made up of some two hundred people, including the members of the IOC. As for an Olympic event, the three winning stamps are each rewarded with a medal (gold, silver and bronze).
